


| H.B. Clark, Disc Golf Course Architect H. B. Clark has over 30 years of course design experience, both as a volunteer and then as a full time professional. He has been on the Professional Disc Golf Association Pro Tour since 1977, having won events in most years and cashed as a top player in each year. Major tour finishes include 8th in the 2005 World Championships – Grand Master Division, 2nd in the 2002 European Championships – Masters Division, and 3rd in the 2003 British Open – Open Division. He has hosted and run events since the late 70’s, and prior to that played competitive disc games winning state championships in freestyle, distance, maximum time aloft, disc golf, DDC, guts, and accuracy as well as numerous overall state championship titles. He was a player and coach of the Western Kentucky University Ultimate team, and founder and past president of the Bowling Green Disc Golf Club and a past President of the Louisville Disc Golf Club. HB has made presentations on disc golf to the National Parks and Recreation Association, the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society, and the Tennessee Parks and Recreation Association, the American Camps Association, as well as numerous Park Boards and Foundations,and Tourism Departments at the state and local level. He has taught disc for classes at the elementary, high school, and university levels, and taught community education classes for families and individuals. He has hosted clinics for season players and community groups throughout his disc career. He has played on three continents, and competed in major tournaments in Canada, England, Scotland, Norway, and Sweden. In the United States he has toured extensively from coast to coast and is well known on tour as both a competitor and a promoter of the sport of disc golf. H. B. Clark has been designing disc golf courses since 1974, starting with “object” courses on the campus of WKU and at Hobson Grove Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is known for excellent temporary tournament course design (Lampkin Park in BG and George Rogers Clark Park in Louisville) as well as the following permanent park designs:
In addition to design, The HBC Group, LLC recently completed turn key disc golf course design and installations for War Memorial Park in Oak Grove, Ky. (for Oak Grove tourism), City Park of Madisonville, Dolphin Swim Club, Chalybeate Springs (Edmonson County), Jenny Wiley State Resort Park and Lake Cumberland State Resort Park (The Commonwealth of Kentucky) , Simpson County School System, Western Kentucky University, and Stuart Nelson Park (City of Paducah), West KY 4H Camp (University of Kentucky), Airport Park (City of Clarksville). Upgraded signs and information kiosk and maps have been provided for numerous existing public courses as well. Beyond disc golf, HB is a graduate of Western Kentucky University’s Environmental Engineering Technology program, with continuing University training in Civil and Electrical Engineering, and a Masters Degree from Webster University in Computer and Information Resources Management. He started a professional career South Central Bell in 1978 as an Outside Plant Engineer, and after numerous management positions in Bowling Green, Ky. and Louisville, Ky. retired from the Regulatory Department of BellSouth. He is currently a Rotarian, on the Engineering Advisory Board of WKU, a member and past Chairman of the Board of the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of Focus Louisville, Leadership Bowling Green, and Leadership Kentucky. |
